Elizabeth + Kevin Married | Lake Chelan, WA

It’s hard to say if we’ve ever had a more rainy wedding in Washington State. We’ve definitely never seen a crowd embrace it more. Elizabeth and Kevin came from Arizona to get married in the PNW, where Elizabeth grew up. Talk about a change of weather. The bride and groom had built a gorgeous deck on the shores of Lake Chelan, specifically for the wedding, so there was no way they were going to move the ceremony indoors. Guests cozied up under umbrellas for the ceremony, and the maid of honor sacrificed her arm to hold an umbrella throughout the ceremony for her sister, the bride. The canopy of umbrellas against the dark and moody waters was an amazing sight. It never stopped raining. During the reception, guests warmed themselves with a fire pit, shots of Fireball, and a rap song toast from the maid of honor that had everyone laughing to tears.

Sometimes when it rains on a wedding day, I can’t help but feel sad for the bride who’s obviously bummed. But this time, nobody was bummed (or at least they didn’t show it) and it only added to the experience. Truly an iconic PNW wedding in the mountains, on Lake Chelan, complete with rain, fog, and oysters. I couldn’t imagine the wedding any other way.

Natasha of Natashaskitchen.com - Those photos just too me back to WA. You can’t really escape the rain there. I love how it became part of the wedding and wouldn’t have been the same without it. Looks like such a fun wedding. Beautifully photographed!

Sonya - Hi Julia,

Beautiful photos!
I was wondering, did you use anything to protect the camera from the rain? :)

December 4, 2014 - 7:41 pm

Yuriy - Hi Sonya, no we don’t. Just wipe it off whenever I can. They are built to get a little wet. Thanks for the comment.

Yuriy - Thanks Natasha! This was our rainiest Washington wedding! Don’t you just miss living here? ;)

Monic’ + Aaron Married | Yakima, WA

It was a beautiful outdoor wedding in the country. A warm gathering of friends, family, traditions, and handmade details nestled between fruit orchards in Eastern Washington. Monic’s family lives in the countryside nearby and put in a massive amount of work building and crafting so many elements for the wedding. Monic’ is a country girl who grew up among her family’s orchards, and Aaron is a city boy who served in the military and whisked her away to their new home in Colorado after the wedding. I love that weddings celebrate where we came from and where we’re headed. The day ended with a campfire, cigar bar manned by a cowboy, crazy dancing under the stars, and gratitude for the beautiful life we live.

Karen - This is so sweet and charming! I love all their cute details and it was fun to see Ms. Tonhya as a bridesmaid! Her eyes are insanely beautiful, especially in those first shots! Well done, Julia and Yuriy! :)
